Studio Courtesies

No pop, gum or candy is allowed.  We recommend using a dance bag for shoes.  All dance shoes need to be marked with your dancer’s name.  Lost items will be held for 30 days.

Please pick up your child promptly at the end of class.  Dancers are not allowed to wait outside for their ride.

Questions for your child’s teacher are best asked over the phone or via e-mail.  The time between classes can be hectic and distracting.   We are always happy to discuss your dancer’s progress with you.

Please put all trash in the container and be aware of things you may have dropped on the floor.

Please do not stand on the benches. It is unsafe and impolite.

Safety First - When coming to the studio, please be aware of students in the parking lot. Please do not stop in the middle of the parking area. Please come to the door for your dancer's safety.

SHHHH......Music is a priority during dance class. Please do not make the dancers compete with the noise in the waiting room

Attendance

The dancer who is late or absent can not progress and will not become a confident performer.  They also affect the entire class.  Dance choreography is often based on patterns, partner work and specific places.  Please call when your child will be absent from class.  Be courteous to your teacher and classmates- arrive on time!

No refunds or credits are given for missed classes

Class Placement

All dancers are placed into age appropriate classes.  A significant portion of our program is develop poise and confidence in the young performer.  If we feel a class placement is not appropriate, we will contact the parent.

Attire

Physical image is part of being a dancer.  Dancers come dressed in their dance clothes to class.  Girls wear a leotard and tights. Younger students can choose any color leotard.  Many have a small tutu or skirt attached.   Older girls wear a solid color black leotard and pink or black tights.  Hair is pulled away from face.  Ballet skirts are optional.  No cover-ups allowed on the dance floor.  For jazz or hip hop, shorts, capris or jazz pants are okay.

Boys wear dark colored sweatpants or shorts with a white t-shirt and black jazz or ballet shoes.
Students who wear inappropriate attire distract others and often are distracted themselves.  When shopping for dance attire, please remember our studio rules:  no warm-up suits, sweat shorts, costumes, two-piece leotards or street clothes.
All dancers must have appropriate attire to participate.  Your child can not progress in class without the proper equipment.

Dance Shoes

Ballet   Ballet shoes for girls are pink and vinyl or leather.  Stretchy or satin shoes are not acceptable.  Pointe dancers will all receive specific instructions from their pointe teacher during class on which pointe shoes to buy.

Boys   Boys need oxford style tap shoes and black jazz shoes.

Additional shoes are sometimes needed for our advanced dancers such as character shoes, dance sneakers, or lyrical shoes, (dance paws).
