Dance Is For Everyone!

The Studio of Dance Arts was established in 1932 by Lois Kurtz Barr. Several years later, her sister, Donna Kurtz Cartwright took over as director and instructor for more than 50 years. Ms. Kurtz formed the basis for a strong, well-established ballet studio - one of the longest continual schools in the Omaha area. Upon her retirement in 1990, Sherri Harding and Cheri Harris became directors. Both were students of Ms. Kurtz as children and began teaching and choreographing for her upon graduation from college. Our dancing legacy is truly unique and we are proud of our 'dancing family'. Today, the solid ballet foundation Ms. Kurtz established remains integral, as the basis of all dance styles begins with ballet exercises. It is our belief that a technical foundation is essential to excel as a dancer. Our teaching staff continues to improve upon their education through local and national workshops and seminars. Membership in professional organizations such as Omaha Dance Teachers Association allow us to continue to educate ourselves.

We want our dancers to learn and not just memorize. Our skill-based syllabus and dedicated staff makes it easy to maintain high standards. Physical skills such as flexibility, strength and grace of movement will be taught along with the confidence performers need to appear on the stage.

Each dancer is an individual at the Studio of Dance Arts. We focus on improving individual abilities and talents in a fun and encouraging environment. We use our knowledge and experience to improve and guide each dancer's natural abilities and physical skills. As teachers, it is exciting to watch dancers realize the power of motiviation, discipline and hard work. By increasing their skills as performers, our students are able to experience the joy and magic of dance.

We Hope You Take A Leap With Us!
